coin quilt progress

here's a couple of pics of my coin quilt being made for my bed. so far, this fits the top of the mattress, with a bit extra for length to accomodate the pillows. i'm thinking i'll add a thin border of some color and then a fat border of the printed white. now the question is which fabric for the inner border or do i skip that completely? i was thinking of using one of the paler fabrics - a kaffe fassett that is white and really pale lavender/grey, but that might be too light next to the white. i have a brown with odd sized polka dots in multi colors, but i wanted that to be saved for the binding. at the same time, this is going to be tucked into my platform bed most of the time (hopefully) and the binding will rarely show. maybe i should use my polka dots for the border...

i've got QOV #3 sitting and waiting patiently for binding. the strips are cut and set on my sewing table. i'll have to get to those tonight and at least machine stitch the binding to the quilt. my LA quilter did a super fantastic job on it and i love the quilt. i have the case to make for it and QOV #2, but i've put them off until i know when/where they're being shipped. hopefully i'll hear back today on that.

the past month seems to be a month of starting projects. i just can't stop! my drawing is still sitting lonely on my drafting table, wanting to be finished. i have the batik dress to finish up this weekend...i need to. it's almost done as it is - a bit of taking in on the sides, arm facings, the hem border and tie. that's it. then i could wear the beautiful thing. and....i started knitting a baby sweater for a christmas present. seriously? when will i stop and breathe?

oh. and i'm committing to several mini-quilts.
