sooooo hard....

not to buy any fabric right now.... i'm participating in the september fabshophop and i see so many fabrics and patterns and cool tools i want to snag. but i can't. i have to be good so i can spend my money at the international quilt show in 2 1/2 weeks. my hubby and my MIL will be with me this year, so i may get good things from them BUT i may have to limit myself at the same time because of my hubby. ooh. dilemma.

and the inter-gem show is the weekend before the inter-quilt show. shoot! must save...must save... trying to buy house... although, i do have some fabulous bright/deep blue hayunes on lay-a-way with my favorite gem cutter and i plan on picking them up at the october show. too bad they're loose and not set yet so i can't wear them to the mfah's fall bash later that night.

at least i'm doing some xmas fabric stash busting with john's quilt-along. lots o' fabrics that have been taking up storage tub space for 4-5+ years. i'd say it made room for new fabrics at the quilt show, but i've already filled that space. *gasp!!!* i know. i'm bad. i have an addiction i tell ya!

i was bad.

april 30th couldn't come soon enough i guess.... i tried very hard not to buy fabric or start new projects during the spring to finish challenge last month.

now, jacquie has decided to continue the challenge to the end of may. which should be a great thing. but i feel guilty because i was bad... see what arrived today from fabric.com?

i'm really thinking i have a fabric addiction. i'm past the denial stage and into acceptance. i tried not to buy any fabric unless i absolutely needed it for something i was trying to finish. it lasted a month. there are toooooo many ideas and projects in my head and i don't know where to start. or maybe it's where to stop.

and lately, the dedication to making QOV's is overwhelming. i told myself i was going to do something for me, or at least my household, before i started the next quilt top. i did make a skirt. and i wore it yesterday! but i started cutting a fabric yesterday for the QOV #3. i stopped myself quickly...then started cutting the fabrics for my dia de los muertos quilt. it's a fairly simple quilt pattern, so i'll put it together and then work on the QOV.

i need a QOV sponsor. i keep buying fabrics. in the stash that came today, the oranges, the red rope fabric and the biggest piece of blue fabric (backing material) are designated for QOVs. the oranges are for the coast guard. the red one can go for either usn or uscg - it's just simply nautical.

now i'm off to check on my kiddo who is losing his voice. let's just hope he doesn't get sicker and i have to squash the thoughts of H1N1 virus. i'm in the greater houston area....we have it here...

step-by-step

seriously...this man speaks to my heart. and so does robert kaufman. i stumbled across this fabric by alexander henry while shop-hopping before the end of the month. i neeeeeed this one. not really, but i really really want it. i have a black & white quilt started (and by started i mean the two sized squares are cut out and now it's sitting in a bag...it's paper piecing and i've never done it and it's circles for crying out loud). this one could be the backing. i have binding, but no backing yet. hmm...

i've been really good. ok - so sort of good. i have refrained from purchasing too much fabric this month and trying not to start projects, but finish them for the spring challenge. i've purchased some, but not as much as i wanted to. i put things in the virtual cart, but then leave.

i have a fabric addiction...

i'm in trouble. i just bought more fabric online this morning. before 8:30am. i just "had" to have this tula pink fabric. i saw it on that quilt's blog yesterday and she wrote me back with the fabric name. isn't it wonderful!? of course, i couldn't stop with just one fabric. i got some of my much desired joel dewberry fabric for a skirt. i have a skirt that i bought several years ago that is a different woodgrain print and i LOVE it. it's swishy and just cool, but i always wished i had made it instead.

last week, i made my first SMS purchase. it arrived earlier this week when i was feeling icky and it brightened my day instantly. first - it was my fabric. and it was fabric that i had either never seen at any of my local quilt shops or anywhere else or it was the fabulous new fabric in the woodland series from jay. i loved him on project runway - didn't you? and second - the wonderful people at SMS packages the fabrics so beautifully, you can't help but smile. my fat quarter bundle was separate from my yardage purchases. both of them were folded beautifully, tied up with ribbon and then put in a plastic envelope. snappy had to untie the one so he could look better. i tied it back up and they're sitting on my sewing table. i can't untie them yet.

oh...and after my neurologist's appointment this week, i stopped at hobby lobby to pick up more of the robert kaufman sailor fabric. and two more. i bought the remaining 4 yards of the sailor fabric off the bolt. i'm bad. i have waaaaay too much fabric. but i intend on using all of it. really, i do. especially all the patriotic stuff i've been collecting the last month and a half for my QOVs.
